4H First Aid

With the help of others, Escalante Valley School is incorporating monthly STEM activities into student learning.  Marla Hoyt and Charlene Busch from SUU’s STEM center, along with volunteer students from SUU’s nursing program, Connor & Skylee, taught our K-6 students important lessons about 1st aid.  Students were then partnered up to practice the skills learned.  They began by applying pressure to a wound using (fake) blood, washing the wound, applying antibiotic ointment, and ending with a bandaid.  Each student left with a deeper understanding of 1st aid skills and their own mini 1st aid kit for their backpacks.  We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to many more learning experiences throughout the year!
