Cathie Callison, our school nurse, recently visited with our 1st & 2nd grade students to explain the importance of dental health.
Using a puppet and oversized toothbrush, students learned the proper way to brush their teeth. A song was taught to the classes which also conveyed the message of how to properly care for one's teeth. Next, students practiced flossing by using a piece of yarn and weaving in and out of their partner's fingers, which of course represented teeth.
Throughout the presentation Cathie explained why we have teeth, how we should properly care for our teeth and how often we should visit the dentist. Students left feeling more educated on how to care for their teeth, and were pleased to take a goodie bag (toothbrush, toothpaste & and floss) home to practice their newly learned skills. We are appreciative of Cathie's efforts and value the lessons she shared with our students!
